MP3 Write-up

I feel that this piece says a lot about me, maybe not as a person or friend, but as a student. Seeing as the pictures were taken while doing homework it only makes sense that most the items I had on me at the time revolved around my study habits. Even my phone (which is typically seen as a distraction) has become an important item when doing homework due to the fact that I work a lot in groups and my phone allows me to communicate with my co-workers. Furthermore, computers can also be used for a lot of purposes. However it is no coincidence that just by opening up Firefox I am brought to my Carmen page. Between looking up homework assignments and checking my grades I am constantly on Carmen.

This collage also tells viewers how I like to study; i.e. the headphones. Doing homework while people around me are having a conversation has proven to be an impossible task. Listening to music while I study in a public area provides me with some white noise to drown out the voices of those around me. Lastly, my daily cup of coffee. My sleep pattern this semester has become completely messing up. On a typical day I wake up at about 11:00 (10:15 when I have this class), but then I’m normally up till about 1:00 or 2:00 doing homework. Without coffee I probably would not be able to stay up long enough to finish everything that needs to get done.

Well that’s everything that the collage shows about my study habits. However this tells viewers nothing about me as an individual outside of my classes. Although classes take up the majority of my time during the week, there are still other aspects of my life that this collage does not represent.

Buck ID-  The first item I chose to photograph is my Buck ID. I carry this item with me wherever I go because it’s practically my entire wallet packed into one card. It’s not only a form of identification, but also my credit card (on campus) and the key to get into my room. I’m not sure what this says about my personality other than that I like being prepared for whatever I might encounter during the day.

Starbucks- Another item that I carry around with me a lot (or at least it feels that way) is a cup of coffee. More than anything, this tells people that I am NOT a morning person.  I feel that it also sums up my daily schedule. You see, I may get to sleep in, seeing as this class is my earliest class, but that also means that I stay up pretty late. On a typical night I am up till 2:00 -2:30 in the morning doing homework. Therefore, my “morning” cup of coffee is about 3 hours later than most peoples.

Mechanical Pencil- Another item that I will always have on me when going to class is a mechanical pencil. One thing that people might get from this is that I am too lazy to get up to sharpen a wood pencil when it gets dull. More likely they will think I am someone who is always ready for class. I know I already used this as my one word consolidation but the word that I feel works best is:

Computer- The last thing I carry around with me a lot is my computer. Because of the fact that I am taking engineering and programming classes I have a lot of homework that’s done on the computer (solidworks/ C++ programming). Therefore, if I have 30 minutes to an hour to kill before my next class I can sit down and start on homework. Carrying around my computer tells people that I am a studious person and that I like to do my homework throughout the day rather than just after classes.

Headphones- Another item that I typically carry with me is my headphones. Seeing as I carry my IPhone with me (haven’t gotten there yet), that means that I always have an ipod on me. One thing this says about my personality is that I don’t like to have nothing to do. If nothing else, as long as I have my headphones I can always just relax and listen to music.

Phone – Besides my buck ID the one item that I always have with me is my phone. One thing this says about my personality is that I am a very social person. If it’s not texting, I am constantly on my IPhone looking through twitter/Instagram/Facebook.
